Asheville
January 26, 2008 – 8:39 pmGreetings from Asheville, North Carolina.
This year certainly didn’t start off on a good note. I lost one of my closest and dearest friends on January 11th. Travis Conner was my photographer, travel partner on freight trains and roadie for both AVAIL and my own tours.
To be blunt, I am devastated.
So I’ve done what I always do in hard times. I left home. I left to seek clarity and gain perspective. And I am slowly finding both. For the time being I’m living in the basement of a friends house here in the mountains of western North Carolina. I have my van, some clothes, my sleeping bag, and my guitar. That’s about all I need.
Here’s the deal: I’d planned out tours this year around my work schedule with the Richmond Ballet. But when all of this went down with Travis everything froze. I froze. Right now I can’t think straight enough to go on with organizing. I’m gonna stay down here in Asheville and work on songs until my head is clear enough to go home to Richmond. For the time being, I am booking no studio time for recording. And I am putting all of my show and tour plans on hold. However, I WILL make an album this year, and I WILL tour like hell. I can promise that. But right now I can’t say when shit will come out or when I’ll be doing shows.
In other words, I’ll see you guys down the road. With-out-a-doubt. And thank you.
Ride Easy Travis.
Tim Barry
